Music Team
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord”
The Music Ministry forms a very important element of the Worship at Findlay Church.
Our Purpose: To create a standard whereby all aspects of music are co-ordinated and the best standards maintained and developed.
Our Vision is to create a spiritually sensitive atmosphere in which God’s people are led naturally into worship and to ensure that instruments and voices blend into one.
Praise Bands
With between 25-30 musicians and 12 singers, the music teams operate on a rota system with 4 autonomous Praise Bands, each comprising up to 7 instrumentalists and 3 singers. This brings variety in style and presentation as each band has different types of instruments and a Worship Leader.. Our music selection comes from the newest complete Mission Praise and from other sources which are added to our repertoire, and stored on “Easy Worship”. New songs are rolled out over the course of a year to keep the praise fresh.
Rehearsals for the Praise Bands are held at least one hour, or longer, before the start of each service in the main sanctuary. This also gives the tech team the opportunity to set up mics and sound levels and the computer operator to set up “Easy Worship” with the service programme.
The Findlay Church Choir
In recent years the Choir, under the expert leadership of Julie Carrie has been growing and developing in style and musical adventure.
With up to 30 men and women, depending on the occasion, the choir performs, not only at important Church events, notably, Christmas and Easter but also at the annual Concert.
The Choir is now seeking opportunities to sing at external events. Rehearsals are usually held on late Sunday afternoons.
Technical Team
Purpose: To support, develop and improve the Music and worship with the best equipment and operators. To maintain a standard consistent with the level of musicians and singers.
Vision: To give such sensitive and professional technical support to musicians, singers and congregation, such that God’s name is worshipped with sincerity and reality and without drawing attention to equipment or operators.
The Tech Team is responsible for all of the audio/visual technical equipment within the Findlay Church. They are also responsible for the technical production of each service working within the remit as defined by the Leadership Team.
Sunday duties include, arriving 80-90 minutes before the service to set up required equipment before the band/speaker arrives. Displaying song words/video elements and mixing during band practice and the service/event. Recording the service/event (if needed) and making any requested copies of the service. Clearing up after a service, and securing equipment.

All persons/organisations hoping to use the church and the in-house technical equipment will be put in touch with the technical director to discuss any technical requirements. For example, the stage/chancel area needing to be cleared of equipment or setup for a specific purpose and if Church Technicians are required for the event. (If using the Church sound system a Church Technician will be required)
A technical specification is available on request from the technical director.
