Rock Solid
Rock Solid is a youth club for young people attending secondary school (i.e.11-18yrs).
We meet throughout the school term every Monday from 7.30pm and finish by 9pm (our holidays usually match with Glasgow City Council school holidays – parents are notified of any changes).
It is held in Findlay Church and there will usually be someone at the door to welcome you and show you where the fun is at – most of the time we are either in our side hall or youth forum but we like to keep you on your toes by mixing it up every now and again!
We have one special weekend each year at Teen Ranch which is a lot of fun. We also go on trips all over the place - we had a recent adventure to Ikea to decorate the forum and this took the form of an ‘Apprentice’ style competition where teams were challenged to source appropriate furnishings within the given budget. We’ve been swimming at the Time Capsule, we went ice skating in George Square as well as going on an ‘Alter-nativity’ progressive supper. Hilarious.
Regular evenings involve anything from football to dodge ball, baking to dance mats, computer games to air hockey and general banter. Everyone (11-18yrs) is welcome and we would love to see you. Turn up any time we are on. You will be asked to phone a parent on your arrival on the first night to confirm where you are and then you will be given a permission form away to bring along the following week (if at all possible, please pick up a form from the leaflet rack outside the Church Office or download from here before coming along but don’t let that put you off from joining us).
If you are an adult thinking about getting involved please do not hesitate to get in touch with Estelle McKean using our online form – we are always happy to welcome new volunteers to our team!
